PA School Dilemma

So, we have a slight dilemma regarding PA school. Yesterday, Mr. Tigger got accepted to the other school that he interviewed at out in Delaware. And, they gave him a scholarship right off the bat. The dilemma is that Tigger really likes the Virginia school a lot better. So, I decided that maybe we'd get some input from some outsiders. Here are the Pros and Cons:

Virginia (Pros)
  • The students actually said they like going to school and that they were enjoying themselves.
  • It has a 98% first time pass-rate on the PANCE (The big PA test).
  • Tigger likes the area better.
  • Tigger likes the faculty better (they are more relaxed, easier to get along with, plus they are very well respected).
  • They will probably let Mr. Tigger do some of his clinicals out in Utah, which would mean we could move back sooner.

Virginia (Cons)

  • It's more expensive.
  • It goes longer (27 months to 24).
  • It ends later (December vs May).

Delaware (Pros)

  • With the scholarship, it would be about $10,000 cheaper.
  • It starts in May and ends in May so Tigger would be done sooner (Virginia goes from August to December).
  • It's shorter (only 24 months compared to 27)

Delaware (Cons)

  • The students say that school is all that they do. They constantly complained about how hard it is. They say that all they ever do is study.
  • The faculty are more uptight.
  • The school is located in an office building (not a school or a hospital).
  • They won't let Tigger do any of his clinicals in Utah.
  • Tigger doesn't like the area as much.
  • They have a lower first time pass-rate on the PANCE (96.8% vs 98%).

So, that's pretty much the gist. I just thought I'd put it out here so that we could get a little outside perspective on it. So, tell us what you think.

I know what my vote would be. It isn't all about the money- quality of life counts for a whole lot, and 24 months can feel like 36 when you don't enjoy it, whereas, 27 months can fly by when you are busy and happy. Money is alway an issue, is there a possibility of a scholarship with the other school?

We can apply for a scholarship, but the Delaware school gave us one without doing anything. They just did it to be mean.

What's $10,000 when you're going to be up to your eyeballs in debt anyway? We probably have that much in interest already!! And it's true that if he's going to enjoy it more, life will be so much better for everyone.

That's a hard decision! I think both states would be fun to live in. Which has cheaper living costs?
