Our morning started early (we got up at 3:30 to get ready and get to the marathon start). You can't tell, but in this picture I'm still pretty sleepy.
Ready...Set...Go!
There was still a ton of people (over 25,000), but traffic moved a lot better than during the half marathon. There were a lot less walkers and a lot more course to spread out on.
We saw a lot of fun characters, some cool cars, and made it to mile 13.
There was fun music along the course, tons of Powerade and water, and we made it to mile 19.
Finally we made it to mile 20. A big highlight of the course.
Goofy, Mickey, and Donald were there to greet us.
A sign that can still make us laugh at mile 24 is a sign worth posting.
Mile 26.2!
Marathon Complete! Mickey Marathon and Goofy Medal Earned!
(For those of you who don't know what a Goofy is, it is the medal you earn when you complete the half marathon and the marathon within two days...in other words you have to be goofy/crazy to get a Goofy medal.)
Two days, 39.3 miles, one half-marathon, one marathon, and three medals.
The half marathon was fun. The marathon was tough. I got a sore knee somewhere between mile 5-6, Mr. Tigger got sunburned, and we weren't quite prepared for the heat or humidity. But we finished!
After the race we didn't want to do much, would you? So we just hung out at my brother's, took a walk around the neighborhood, and saw flowers like these...
cute houses like this...
And sweet babies like this...
The hard part is over and now it's time for the fun :)
