Ghosts & Goblins

We had so much Halloweenness this year that I almost got Halloweened out...almost. We started out with a trunk-or-treat and Halloween carnival on Tuesday. Plus, Monkey got his first stitches after falling off a chair (I guess face-paint wasn't realistic enough for him.) Then we made Halloween cookies on Wednesday. Followed by another trunk-or-treat on Thursday. Scary movies (okay they were the Simpson Halloween episodes) on Friday. Pumpkin carving, Halloween lunch, and the actual trick-or-treating on Saturday.

Our family didn't do a theme this year. I know that all of you are so bummed out by this, or at least I know that I was. But, there's always next year.

Boo! It's Halloween!

I love Halloween. It's one of my favorite holidays. On what other day can you put on extremely weird outfits, mangle innocent gourds, randomly jump out at strangers to scare them, go up to people's houses and demand candy and not get arrested, etc.? It's an awesome holiday.

This year little monkey got slightly more involved in the pumpkin carving. I say slightly because the minute his hands got dirty he started crying and wanted to go and wash them. I had to promise him all sorts of candy to get him to clean out his pumpkin and I still had to do most of it. What can I say, my boy loves being clean.

We weren't nearly as elaborate in our pumpkins this year as last year, but I think they still turned out pretty good.

Grandma Bunnie's Halloween brunch was lots of fun. There was tons of tasty treats and who doesn't love eating Frankenberry cereal on Halloween.

At Grandpa and Grandma Tigger's my little monkey and his cousin played in the haunted castle and tried to figure out who was cuter.

I definitely didn't win the cuter contest.

Halloween Festivities

We had a great time this year. We carved pumpkins, decorated our porch, dressed up, and went trick-or-treating. All in all, it was a great Halloween. Here are some pictures to show you how much fun we had.

We carved pumpkins and even spent the time to do the hard ones. (I don't know who is scarier: Mr. Tigger or the pumpkin.)

Mr. Tigger did this scary bull skull-type thing (I don't actually know what it is).


Mr. Tigger also did this scary pumpkin face, but told the little monkey that it was his.

I did this scary pumpkin. Okay, it's isn't very scary, but it is darn cute. Who doesn't love Gizmo from the Gremlins? (I rationalized that it was okay to carve cute Gizmo on Halloween because Gremlins is a horror movie). 

All Three pumpkins together. The two scaries are close together, but my Gizmo is off chilling by himself. He didn't want to be near the scary ones.

Here is our cute little monkey dressed up as a monkey for Halloween (so appropriate). If you look closely, you can also see his best friend, monkey, in his hand.

Here we are either ready to go out and shoot us a lion, or beg for candy from our neighbors.

Our little monkey absolutely loved trick-or-treating. He loved pushing the doorbells, knocking on doors, trying to open people's doors, going into people's houses without being asked, choosing candy, and eating candy. Overall, he thought it was the best!

Halloween Party

Last Saturday while my sister, D, was here she helped us throw a killer Halloween party for the cousins. We had a silly string fight (which my little monkey avoided like the plague), a marshmallow mouth-stuffing contest (which I won), we bobbed for apples (my niece K got her apple out in a millisecond), we had an M&M sucking game, and we finished it all off with Halloween donuts and apple juice. All in all it was a huge success and all of the kids had a blast.

This is the M&M sucking game. The goal was to roll doubles and suck the most M&Ms.

My little monkey didn't participate in too many of the activities (they were either too complicated or too messy for his taste), but he still had lots of fun and really enjoyed the apple juice.
